Entrance Hall

Entrance Hall

The front aspect of the home comprises of a pleasant and colourful garden with ramped access into the welcoming hallway. The décor theme throughout the home is calm and relaxing to maintain minimum arousal levels and therefore catering specifically for children and young people with autistic spectrum conditions and/or complex learning needs.

Lounge East

Lounge East

There are four lounges in total (three downstairs and one upstairs) which provide the young people, if they wish, time alone. All of the lounges are furnished with comfortable leather sofas allowing plenty of seating for the child/young person and their friends or visitors.

Lounge West

Lounge West

Two of the downstairs lounges have television sets. These comfortable areas are very popular for the children and young people who enjoy watching their favourite TV shows and DVDs. Relaxation is the primary focus of the third downstairs lounge and also the upstairs lounge.

Kitchen

Kitchen

The large modern kitchen is accessible to all and promotes development of cooking skills. Croston Road's children and young people don't need much encouragement to make snacks and prepare drinks for themselves and others as they enjoy preparing and tasting their own culinary creations. Education of different food stuffs are gently introduced as a programme of learning.

Dining Room

Dining Room

Leading from the kitchen is a separate spacious dining room where the whole household eat their meals. If the young people prefer to eat alone this can be arranged with a gradual programme to increase sociability and join with the rest of the group.

Bedroom

Bedroom

Each young person has their own bedroom (there is also a staff bedroom for sleep-in shifts). All have reflective film on the windows which protects the individual's privacy and dignity but also still allows them to freely view the outside world. Before a child moves into the home they and their family are involved with decisions regarding their bedroom furniture and colour scheme. This may be in conjunction with their family members and through the completion of a person centred plan and sensory profile.

Bathroom

Bathroom

There are two bathrooms on the first floor. One has a separate shower and bath with an overhead attachment for those who prefer a refreshing shower rather than a soak in the bath. In the second bathroom there is a corner bath which also benefits from an overhead shower attachment which allows for time spent for water play, an activity which is most welcomed. In addition on the ground floor of the property is an additional toilet.
