Priory Manor

Registered Manager Marykate Taafe-Smith is the newest member of our Children and Young People’s Homes Management Team and has been part of the team at Living Ambitions for over 7 years. She brings with her background experience and qualification as a Registered Nurse specialising in Learning Disabilities, together with a diploma in Social Work. Marykate and her team of staff ensure the happiness, well-being and safety of the children and young people who occupy Priory Manor. As with the other residential children’s homes in Living Ambitions the team at Priory Manor work with each child/young person on their domestic independence skills preparing the individual for transition and encourages them to reach their full potential daily living tasks.

Priory Manor is a fabulous extensive detached property set in 1/3 acre of private secure grounds and is situated in The Cliff area of Salford, in close proximity to Manchester United's training ground. The main front entrance to the building looks out over an attractive grassed area populated with many of the red squirrels in the area. This entrance leads to a wonderful open hallway with high ceilings and a wide stairway.

At the heart of the home is a large welcoming dining area. This facility is not only used at mealtimes but has evolved into the focal point of the house and is put to use in many other communal activities. Adjacent to this is Priory's kitchen where children and young people are aided by staff in the preparation of meals. The children and young people are actively encouraged to develop independence skills to prepare them for their transition into adulthood.

Due to the buildings' size there is substantial internal space in the form of two lounges, one of which is used as a quiet room which is ideal for homework, craft work and informal meetings. The lounge is used for watching television and relaxation for the children and young people and their guests.

This large room is graced with a beautiful aspect to the rear garden and is a sunny happy place for playtime activities. This area is a popular venue for all members of the household and is constantly in use.

Each floor has a large landing aspect which provides an open space and gives access to bedrooms and bathing areas. From the second floor a final flight of stairs lead to the staff office used in the management of this homely children and young peoples' facility.

Before a child moves into Priory Manor they and their family are involved with decisions regarding the individual's bedroom colour scheme. Each young person has their own room with fitted furnishings.

The property houses two shower rooms and one bathroom with shower attachment. One of the shower areas is situated on the ground floor and is purpose built as a wet-room. The second shower room is located on the first floor. The bathroom, situated in close proximity to three bedrooms, is located on the second floor of this magnificent home.

The significant sized and enclosed rear garden is not overlooked and provides many activities for the children and young people living at Priory Manor. These include; a summer house complete with electricity, a trampoline with safety netting and also a climbing frame with regulatory flooring.
